'Hindus became second-class citizens in Bengal': Modi slams TMC as election season peaks

Kolkata/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday slammed the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for allegedly making Hindus the "second-class citizens" in West Bengal.

Modi tore apart TMC, which is the arch-rival of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), at a public rally in Bardhaman-Durgapur constituency.

The Prime Minister said, "An MLA of TMC gave a statement yesterday that they will throw Hindus in Bhagirathi… What kind of politics is this?

"Why have Hindus become second-class citizens in Bengal? TMC has problems with the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, and Ram Navami processions in Bengal…"

"In Sandeshkhali, our Dalit sisters faced atrocities but TMC tried to save the accused Shahjahan Sheikh," he added.

Besides this, Modi tore apart the INDIA bloc for remaining "mum" on Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Maria Alam giving a "vote jihad" call.

Modi said, "Knee-deep in their policy of appeasement, TMC has dehumanised people. Now, they openly speak of 'Vote Jihad'.

"Not a single Opposition leader has condemned the statement because they all agree to it. We can not let them win. We must fight against this."

Addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh's Farrukhabad, Alam had given a "vote jihad" call.

Alam had said "vote jihad" is the sole way to oust the existing government.
