A young man has been arrested in Maharashtra’s Amravati for allegedly sexually exploiting at least 180 minor girls and recording nearly 350 obscene videos, media reports said.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Ayaz alias Tanveer, is alleged to have lured girls through a “love trap” before taking them to cities like Mumbai and Pune, where he filmed explicit videos of them.
According to reports, the videos were later used to blackmail the victims and coerce them into prostitution.
Some of the footage was also allegedly circulated online.
Investigators believe the accused systematically targeted minors through messaging platforms like WhatsApp and Snapchat, based on a memorandum submitted by Rajya Sabha MP Anil Bonde to Amravati Rural Superintendent of Police Vishal Anand, as reported by NDTV.
Bonde has demanded the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case.
Following his arrest, Ayaz has been remanded to seven-day police custody.
Police have seized his mobile phone, which reportedly contains multiple objectionable videos.
Meanwhile, some media reports claimed the accused had links with the party led by Asaduddin Owaisi, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).
A local party representative, however, told India Today that he is no longer associated with the party, while acknowledging past links.
