Mumbai/IBNS: The Maharashtra Police has made its first arrest in connection with the alleged cyber harassment of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s 13-year-old daughter, media reports said.
Incident on online gaming platform
According to reports, the minor was approached by a stranger on an online gaming platform who allegedly asked her for explicit images.
The actor had earlier shared the incident during the inaugural ceremony of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 at the state police headquarters in Mumbai.
Recalling the episode, Akshay said his daughter was initially receiving polite messages from a stranger, which is common during online gaming interactions.
However, the conversation took a disturbing turn when the person abruptly asked her for a nude photograph.
Akshay said his daughter immediately exited the platform and informed her mother about the incident.
He highlighted this as the correct response, stressing the importance of open communication within families in such situations.
The actor warned that such interactions are often the starting point of serious cyber crimes, including extortion and psychological harm to children.
“This is how everything begins,” he said, adding that in some cases, victims are driven to extreme consequences.
Akshay also urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to introduce weekly awareness sessions in schools to educate students about cyber crime and online safety in an increasingly digital world.
