Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case: City officials demolish parts of pub which served accused Mihir Shah alcohol
Mumbai/IBNS: The city officials in Mumbai on Wednesday demolished parts of a pub where 24-year-old Mihir Shah spent hours before his BMW car rammed a two-wheeler killing a woman, media reports said.
The Vice-Global Tapas Bar had served alcohol to Mihir, who is the son of Shiv Sena (faction of Eknath Shinde) leader Rajesh Shah, despite the accused being underage.
The demolition drive was carried out also because the pub had no proper licence and its construction was illegally done. The illegal part of the pub has been demolished.
The deceased woman, who was identified as Kaveri.
Kaveri and her husband went to make a trip to Sassoon Dock to fetch fish.
As they were returning home with their catch, their two-wheeler was hit from behind by a speeding BMW.
The impact caused their bike to overturn, throwing both the husband and wife onto the bonnet of the car.
In a desperate attempt to save himself, the husband managed to jump off the bonnet. However, his wife was not as fortunate.
The accident led to chaos which enabled the driver of the four-wheeler to flee the scene, leaving the injured woman behind.
The injured woman was quickly rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead.
Mihir was arrested on Tuesday. Rajesh Shah, who was arrested in connection with the same case on Sunday, was released from bail.
He was granted bail after paying Rs. 15,000.
According to reports, the cops believe Rajesh Shah and their driver helped Mihir escape.
