Sources, who had information about the development, told India Today after interrogation of the  arrested operatives by the Delhi Police Special Cell.

The revelation was made days after the Delhi Police Special Cell arrested nine alleged operatives of the Pakistan ISI-backed Shahzad Bhatti module.

The arrests were reportedly made in Delhi and several other states.

During the operation, police recovered the weapons from the accused.

According to sources, the accused revealed during questioning that a historic temple in Delhi was one of the key targets of the module, reported India Today.

One of the arrested persons had allegedly conducted reconnaissance of the temple and sent photographs of the site to handlers based in Pakistan, media reports said.

Sources told the news channel that the module planned to open fire on police personnel and paramilitary forces deployed at the temple before targeting the religious site.

Investigators reportedly found that the module planned a hand grenade attack on a famous dhaba located on the Delhi-Sonipat highway, where thousands of people visit daily, with the intention to create panic in the area.

The investigation revealed that a military camp in Hisar was also on the target list.

An accused allegedly conducted reconnaissance of the camp and sent videos of the location to handlers in Pakistan, India Today reported.
