The Prime Minister shared additional photographs from the visit, noting that the service reflected “the timeless message of love, peace and compassion,” and expressed hope that the spirit of Christmas would inspire harmony and goodwill across society.
Modi’s visit to the church on Christmas Day is being seen as an outreach to the Christian community, in line with similar gestures made by him in previous years.
In December 2023, the Prime Minister hosted a special Christmas programme for Christian leaders at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg.
Last year, he attended a Christmas dinner at the residence of Union Minister George Kurian and also participated in an event organised by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India.
