Pune/IBNS: The grandfather of 17-year-old Vedant Agarwal, whose Porsche car ran over two techies leading to their death in Pune, has underworld connections, as per the chargesheet of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), media reports said.

The grandfather, who stood as the surety of the bail of the minor, was earlier booked by Pune Police for hiring a mercenary from gangster Chhota Rajan to kill Shiv Sena corporator, Ajay Bhosale.

The grandfather had first given a contract to Rajan to mediate with his brother with whom the former was having a problem related to properties.

Rajan in turn asked Bhosale, who was close to the brother, to sort out the matter. But Bhosale, who seemed to be inclined to the brother, did not intervene.

The grandfather then gave contract to Rajan to kill Bhosale, who contested the 2009 assembly elections from Wadgaon-Sheri on a Shiv Sena ticket.

As he was driving, a hitman fired at Bhosale but the bullet hit his driver instead. Bhosale escaped without any injury.

How did the accident happen?

A man and a woman, riding a motorbike, were killed when the car, driven by 17-year-old Vedant Agarwal, hit their vehicle in Pune's Kalyani Nagar in the wee hours of Sunday.

The accident happened at 3:15 am when Anish Awadiya and Ashwini Costa were returning home with friends on motorcycles after partying at a club, according to the police.

The two riders were flung into the air under the impact of the crash, causing them to land on another car. They died instantly. After hitting them, the car crashed into the pavement and came to a halt, said the report.

According to media reports, the minor accused is the son of a renowned builder in Pune.

Videos on social media showed a group of people thrashing the minor as he tried to come out of his mangled car.

The 17-year-old, whose speeding Porsche SUV knocked a two-wheeler down causing two deaths, was granted bail after he wrote a 300-word essay.

Vedant, the son of an influential builder named Vishal Agarwal, was asked to write a 300-word essay on the topic, titled Effect on road accidents and their solution.

As per police, the bail was granted as the court couldn't find the crime committed by the juvenile as "serious".

Vedant was also asked to learn traffic rules and submit a report by 15 days, The New India Express reported.

Vedant's father Vishal Agrawal was arrested from Aurangabad city of Maharashtra after a case was registered against him on Monday. He was reportedly on the run.
