Setback for Mamata govt as Calcutta HC allows Bengal junior doctors' carnival in Kolkata
Kolkata/IBNS: In another courtroom setback for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday allowed junior doctors' carnival rejecting Kolkata Police's imposition of Section 163 of BNSS in the central part of the city.
The police had earlier denied permission to the junior doctors, erected guardrails blocking roads in RR Avenue in downtown Kolkata.
The carnival was not given permission on a day Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be present at the Durga Puja carnival which will be held at Red Road, which is within a kilometer from Esplanade where several junior doctors are on hunger strike.
