Uttar Pradesh: Youth wanted for molesting minor arrested in Ballia
A 27-year-old youth wanted in connection with a case related to molestation of a minor girl was arrested by the police from Rasra area of Ballia district here in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, a police officer said here.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mohammad Faheem Qureshi that Ravi Kumar Arya, against whom a non-bailable warrant (NBW) was issued by the court in a molestation case was arrested by the police and he has been sent to jail.
He said that on September 8, 2022 uncle of a 17-year-old girl lodged a case against Ravi Arya under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).
"The complainant had alleged that Ravi Arya, who taught in a private coaching, used to molest his niece," he said.
The DSP said that the accused also blackmailed the victim and took cash along with gold and silver jewellery.
"After investigation the police filed the charge sheet against Ravi Arya in the court on December 12, 2022. The court had issued a NBW against the accused," he said.
