'If The Kashmir Files disturbed you, The Delhi Files will destroy you': Vivek Agnihotri
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri indeed shocked the nation in 2022 with the release of The Kashmir Files, which was produced by Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi, Tej Narayan Agarwal along with the director.
By bringing such a powerful and courageous film, the filmmaker left a significant impact on society and made people connect with the story, evoking deep emotions attached to it.
While the film created waves across the nation and beyond, it has now completed three years since its release.
On the third anniversary of The Kashmir Files, Agnihotri took to social media to celebrate the occasion with an even more hard-hitting caption while gearing up the audience for his next, The Delhi Files.
He wrote, "Dear friends, They tried to silence me. They tried to erase history. But The Kashmir Files became a movement-shaking the nation and exposing the truth of the Kashmiri Hindu genocide. The Kashmir Files was more than a film; it was a revolution, a voice for the voiceless, and a relentless fight for justice.
"If The Kashmir Files disturbed you, The Delhi Files will destroy you-because my life's mission is to tell the darkest, most buried, untold truths of our history, no matter how uncomfortable they are.-VRA #3YearsOfTheKashmirFiles #RightToJustice #TheDelhiFiles"
With The Kashmir Files, Agnihotri brought to light the unspoken truths of the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Indian-administered Kashmir.
On the third anniversary of The Kashmir Files, producer and actress Pallavi Joshi said, "As an actor and producer, The Kashmir Files was more than just a film for me—it was a responsibility to expose a story silenced for decades, to give voice to the forgotten, and to honor their pain."
"The overwhelming love and impact of this film reaffirmed my belief that cinema is a powerful medium for untold truths. With The Delhi Files, we continue this journey—because some truths must be told," she added.
Further to this, producer Abhishek Agarwal said, "Three years ago, The Kashmir Files began as a film but became a movement, a voice for the unheard and the story of the neglected. When I look back, I think of the countless discussions within the team, the interactions with Kashmiri pandits, the hardships while filming and release we had.
"I’m deeply grateful to our incredible team and the audience who made this journey meaningful. Thank you India, for making The Kashmir Files what it is. Now, with The Delhi Files, we are ready to bring another powerful story to the screen - one that will hit harder and be a bigger sensation."
The film, starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi, was a phenomenal box office success and went on to become the third-highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022.
At the 69th National Film Awards, The Kashmir Files won two awards – Best Feature Film on National Integration and Best Supporting Actress for Pallavi Joshi.
The Delhi Files : The Bengal Chapter will be directed by Vivek Agnihotri and jointly produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi.
The film will be presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal & I Am Buddha productions.
