Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar hailed the Indian women’s team’s World Cup triumph as “spectacular”, drawing parallels with Kapil Dev’s iconic 1983 victory that first put India on the global cricket map.
Sachin wrote on X: "1983 inspired an entire generation to dream big and chase those dreams."
The icon, who won the World Cup in 2011, said: "Today, our Women’s Cricket Team has done something truly special. They have inspired countless young girls across the country to pick up a bat and ball, take the field and believe that they too can lift that trophy one day."

He called the victory of the eves a defining moment in the journey of Indian women’s cricket.
"Well done, Team India. You’ve made the whole nation proud," he said.
World Cup champion Virat Kohli said the victorious women will remain an inspiration for generations ahead.
"Inspiration for generations to come, you’ve made every Indian proud with your fearless cricket and belief throughout. You guys deserve all the accolades and enjoy the moment to the fullest. Well done Harman and the team. Jai Hind," Kohli wrote on X.

Indian eves, led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, put up a spirited performance to beat South Africa by 52 runs to lift the 50-over World Cup for the first time in the history of the tournament.
Indian bowlers kept things tight and picked up wickets at regular intervals to bowl out the opponents for 246, in 45. 3 overs, after posting a competitive 298 runs for the loss of seven wickets on the scoreboard.
