Ashwajit Senjam sweeps titles at CLTA-AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament
In an impressive display of skill and determination, Ashwajit Senjam, a trainee at the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA), emerged victorious in both the singles and doubles categories of the boys’ under-18 events at the CLTA-AITA Championship Series (CS-7) Tennis Tournament for Boys & Girls under-14 and under-18.
In the singles final, Ashwajit, who was also the top seed, faced off against his practice partner and the third seed, Aniruddh Sangra. The match started off evenly, with both players showcasing their tennis prowess, resulting in a 3-3 tie. However, Ashwajit managed to shift the momentum in his favor and won the next three consecutive games, closing the set with a score of 6-3. In the second set, Ashwajit continued his dominant performance, maintaining his rhythm and playing with high energy. He secured a flawless victory in the second set with a score of 6-0.
The boys’ under-18 doubles final witnessed another triumph for Ashwajit and his partner Aniruddh Sangra. They faced Arntya Ohlyan and Ritam Chawla in what turned out to be a one-sided match. Ashwajit and Aniruddh displayed their synchronized teamwork and defeated their opponents convincingly with a score of 6-2, 6-1.
Meanwhile, in the boys’ under-14 singles final, Yashwin Dahiya from Haryana caused an upset by defeating the top seed, Gaurish Madaan, in straight sets. Yashwin’s exceptional performance showcased his superior skills and dominant gameplay, resulting in a comprehensive victory with a score of 6-2, 6-2.
On the girls’ side, Shrawasti Kundaliya claimed victory in the girls’ under-18 singles final against the top seed, Rubani Kaur Sidhu from Haryana. Shrawasti exhibited exceptional consistency and an aggressive style of play throughout the match, ultimately defeating her opponent in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-0. In the girls’ under-14 singles final, Vanshika Yadav emerged as the champion after defeating Ditti Prajapat with a score of 6-2, 6-2.
The CLTA-AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament showcased outstanding talent and fierce competition among young players. Ashwajit Senjam’s impressive double triumph in both singles and doubles events highlights his remarkable skill and dedication to the sport. The tournament served as a platform for rising stars to showcase their abilities and promises a bright future for Indian tennis.
