Tilak Varma steers India to a thrilling win over England in Chennai
Chennai/IBNS: Tilak Varma's responsible unbeaten 72 almost single-handedly steered India to a two-wicket win over England in the second T20I match at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday.
India now lead the five-match T20I series 2-0.
Tilak remained undefeated at 72 from 55 balls to ensure India chase down the target of 166 with four balls to spare.
The southpaw, who kept on losing partners from the other end at regular intervals but kept his cool, slammed four boundaries and five sixes.
After Arshdeep Singh fell in the trap set of Adil Rashid by getting caught in the boundary line aiming for a big hit, Ravi Bishnoi joined Tilak in the mission to hunt down the English target in front of a packed crowd.
Besides hitting two fours which were cheered by the spectators and commentators, Bishnoi picked crucial singles to give Tilak the much-needed strikes in the middle.
Earlier, England captain Jos Buttler's 45 and Brydon Carse's 31 from 17 balls powered the tourists to 165/9 in 20 overs.
