CPI (M) condemns involvement of BJP in PM’s official programme
Opposition CPI (M) on Thursday strongly condemned the united efforts of ruling party and government machinery for the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 18 next at Agartala.
Addressing a press conference here at CPI(M) headquarters on Thursday afternoon, CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury accompanied by senior leader Ratan Bhowmik and Radha Charan Debbarma lashed out at the involvement of BJP leaders and workers over the government programme of PM and claimed that in a poll bound state like Tripura it’s a total unethical by using the state administration for political purpose.
The way DMs, SDMs and BDOs are being coerced to ensure attendance of beneficiaries in the meeting, is very objectionable in poll bound state, said Chowdhury and added that Prime Minister of the country can visit anywhere of the country any time, but the way state administration has been using for political gain it’s a total unwanted.
‘The way government machinery has been used by the ruling party to convert the PM’s programme into a mass rally , reflects the weakness of the ruling party, as the majority of the people are not supporting the ruling party,’ said Chowdhury.
He said that CPI(M) will lodge a complaint before the Election Commission of India (ECI) and Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Tripura.
Expressing his surprise over the presence of murder accused of their party worker Sahid Miah (75) ina same dais with deputy chief minister Jishnu dev Varma at Charilam and claimed that the ruling party promoting hooliganism and encouraging miscreants .
He said Charilam Mandal leader and main murder-accused Rajkumar Debnath and his team solely responsible for broad daylight murder of Sahid Miah on November 30 last, but unfortunately the deputy chief minister of the state shared dais with a criminal. He also condemned the political action on qualified STGT candidates in front of the Education Minister’s house.
Chowdhury, reacting over any possible alliance with other like minded parties, said that 23rd party Congress has allowed all the state units of the party to create a greater platform to defeat BJP based on the circumstances of the respective states.
He said that all like minded democratic parties should go for consensus to restore the democracy in the state to defeat BJP in next elections. He also said that so far the party does not have any discussion with other parties over pre-poll alliance.
