SFI, AIDWA to continue protests demanding arrest of gang rape accused
Activists of SFI on Thursday staged a demonstration in front police headquarters in Agartala protesting gang rape incidents on minor girls and over deteriorating law and order situation across the state.
The students and their leaders under the banner of SFI and TSU gathered in front of police headquarters and gheraoed the police headquarters by organizing demonstrations in front of the entry gate of police headquarters.
During the protest demonstration agitated SFI leaders speaking with media persons said that since formation of BJP-IPFT government the crime against women reached at its peak in the state and often incident like gang rapes are also reported from different parts of the state. They alleged police are not maintaining their constitutional duties and spared rape accused due to their political patronage with ruling party.
Demanding immediate arrest of all gang rape accused involved on Kumarghat and Kalyanpur incidents, who are associated with influential ruling party leaders, the SFI-TSU will continue their agitation.
But, after a few minutes of agitation, large numbers of police forces rushed to the spot and forcefully arrested all agitators and vacated the road.
In another protest demonstration held in front of Agartala city centre on Thursday afternoon, the activists of All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) organized a protest meeting and slammed the government over the deteriorating law and order situation.
Both students and women organizations of opposition CPI(M) said that they will continue their agitations demanding arrest of all gang rape accused persons involved in Kumarghat and Kalyanpur incidents.
