After completion of first phase of Lok Sabha vote for West Tripura parliamentary constituency, the opposition CPI (M) along with ruling BJP has strengthened its campaign in all remote areas of East Tripura ST reserved constituency in favour of INDIA Bloc candidate Rajendra Reang.
Rajendra Reang is a CPI (M) state committee leader and a former MLA from the Kanchanpur assembly constituency and a former executive Member of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), who’s father Sarbajoy Reang was killed by armed insurgents.
Addressing a poll rally at Panisagar in North Tripura district on Saturday, CMPI(M) state secretary and leader of opposition (LoP) Jitendra Chaudhury said that the 18th general election of the country is not about electing a new government for five years, it’s about saving the country, democracy, and the Constitution.

Slamming the BJP for incidents of ‘poll violence’ on April 19, Chaudhury said, large-scale of violence might again take place during the second phase of polling, but all voters by defeating all intimidation and obstacles must exercise their democratic right and vote to protect the country.
Highlighting the alleged violent politics of BJP in Tripura since last six years, Chaudhury alleged the condition of common people is deteriorating day by day and people are suffering to run their families. The high-inflation during the ten years old Modi regime has make life miserable of common people, said Chaudhury and alleged that due to corporate appeasement of policy by the Modi government , the condition of the poor are also deteriorating.
He also slammed the BJP government for its massive corruption through electoral bonds and claimed that if the Modi government voted to power for a third time, then the autocratic ruler of the country will destroy the spirit of the constitution of the country. Urging people to vote in favour of CPI(M) candidate, Chaudhury appeals to the people, Chaudhury said that the present vote for general election is not a vote to elect the next government for five years, but its fight to protect the country’s constitution and democratic spirit.
