3 drug peddlers arrested with large quantities of banned cough syrup
The Agartala city police on Monday arrested three suspected drug peddlers and recovered huge quantities of banned cough syrup from Netaji Choumohani area under West Agartala police station.
Giving details of the operation, SDPO(Sadar) Ajoy Kumar Das said that based on the secret information a contingent of police along with OC of West Agartala police station Shamaresh Das raided at the house of Biswajit Chakraborty near Gangail Road Ramkrishna Mission on monday afternoon.
Sensing the police raid, the house owner Biswajit Chakraborty and his associate Titu Sharma escape from the spot with a scooty, but the police team chases them and manages to detain them.
While, on the course of the search operation, the police team recovered a total of 1937 bottles of banned cough syrup including Excough from the house of Biswajit Chakraborty.
Das said that they have arrested Biswajit Chakraborty and his son along with their one associate drug paddler under NDPS Act case and will produce them before a local court with police remand appeals for further interrogation.
