49th State-level Biju fair and festival to be held in Agartala from April 13 to 15
The 49th State-level Biju fair and festival-2023 will be held at Swami Vivekananda Maidan, Agartala on April 13, 14 and 15. A preparatory meeting presided over by Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma was held on Tuesday at the conference hall of West Tripura District Magistrate’s office for the successful conduction of the Fair and Festival.
Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Monika Das Dutta, Chairman of Biju Fair Development Society, MLA Sambhulal Chakma, MDC of TTAADC Bimal Chakma, Secretary of Fire Services and Food department Tushar Kanti Chakma, West Tripura District Magistrate In-Charge Tarit Kanti Chakma, Rajya Karbari of Tripura Rajya Chakma Samajik Parishad Debajan Chakma and district officials of different departments were present in the meeting.
Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma said, the beauty and heritage of our state is enhanced by the traditions and culture of small communities and brotherhood among them. Biju Festival is one such festival. The Minister called upon the officials for extend their cooperation to organize the festival in a beautiful manner. She said, cultural development of each and every community of the state is necessary in order to build one Tripura, the best Tripura.
An advisory committee was also formed for the successful conduction of the three-day Biju Festival with Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury as the Chairman, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy and ARDD Minister Sudhangshu Das as Vice-Chairmen, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar as Convener and Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Monika Das Dutta as Joint Convener of the committee. A working committee comprising 15 members was formed with Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma as the Chairperson, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma as the Vice-Chairman of the committee. A total of 30 exhibition stalls will be opened in the three-day Festival showcasing an array of different cultures of different communities of the state including the Chakma community. There will also be three cultural stages and two Jhum huts at the fair campus. Cultural programmes, Kabi Sanmelans, Sahitya Utsav and discussion rounds will be conducted every day on these stages.
