4th Tripura Dialogue Forum talk at NLU, Tripura highlights policing challenges in North-East

Director General of Police (DG) of Tripura, Anurag Dhankar delivered the 4th Tripura Dialogue Forum (TDF) Talk on “Policing in North-Eastern Regions: Challenges and the Way Forward” on Thursday at National Law University (NLU), Tripura.
Anurag gave a comprehensive overview of policing challenges across the North-East region. He initiated his address with Tripura’s geography and demographics, highlighting while acknowledging the volatility in Manipur. He also discussed drug trafficking, youth addiction, and transnational crimes as pressing threats. He recommended community-driven initiatives like PRAYAAS, smart policing technologies, enhanced coordination, and legal reforms, including e-FIRs, witness protection, and trials in absentia.
Dialogue is the bridge across the linguistic and cultural diversity of our region, observed the Vice-Chancellor of National Law University Tripura (NLUT) Prof. Yogesh Pratap Singh in his opening remarks. He underlined the evolving role of NLUT, describing it not merely as an academic space but as a forum for inclusive discourse and problem-solving. The lecture was followed by a question-answer session. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Debasree Debnath, Assistant Professor of law.
