7 injured in violent clash over land dispute; tension grips Matinagar
At least seven people, including a two-year-old girl, were injured in a sudden attack triggered by a land-related dispute in Matinagar village under Amtali police station of West Tripura district, sparking tension in the area.
Sources said that the incident occurred over the construction of a roadside drain. One local resident, Abrur Miah, had begun building a drain along a pathway used by a neighbouring family for access. When members of the affected family, led by Amjad Hossain, protested against the construction, Abrur Mia and his family allegedly launched an attack on them.
During the clash among members of two families, seven persons including Amjad Hossain, Shah Alam Miah, Minara Begum, Isha Akter, Kajal Mia, Zakir Hossain, and a two-year-old girl sustained serious injuries.
After the incident, all injured persons were shifted to Tripura Medical College (TMC) at Hapania and after their primary treatment; all injured along with their ladies in family lodged a complaint at Amtali police station against accused persons.
Police sources said that they have lodged the complaint and visited the incident spot. Police added that they have started investigation and after verifying the incident, will arrest all suspected accused persons.
While, the situation in the locality remains tense following the incident.
