Claim, objection period for electoral rolls extended Dec 15
In order to extend the facilities for claim and objection over draft electoral rolls, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the claim and objection date till December 15 next.
Official sources said that the Draft Electoral rolls as based year of January 1st, 2023 was published on November 9th, 2022 last and the claim and objection period has been fixed up to December 8th, 2022, but the ECI on Thursday has extended the date up to December 15 next.
Thus, the citizens who are not able to enroll their names in the electoral rolls or they are not able to submit their claim and objection over rolls, can take the opportunities till the extended timeline up to December 15.
The state Election department through a press statement appealed to people of the state to take the opportunity to enroll their names in the electoral rolls.
It may be recalled here that on November 9th last during publication of draft electoral rolls, the state Election department said that the claim and objection in respect to the draft rolls will be settled on December 26 and the final voter list will be published on January 5th, 2023 next. But, now it is not clear when the ECI will publish the final voter list after extension of claim and objection period.
