Synthetic Turf football ground inaugurated at Jirania
In order to provide world-class sports infrastructure to give more opportunities to state players to compete both in national and international arena, Tripura is now moving forward with developing sports infrastructures, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.
Inaugurating the synthetic Turf football ground and an open Gym at Sachindranagar High School ground in Jirania subdivision on Monday afternoon, Chief Minister Dr Saha said that the government is committed to upgrade the sports infrastructure to inculcate and nurture the talent of the budding players and to prepare sports persons enable to compete in national and international standard.
The CM claimed that significant achievements in sports infrastructure are now reality in Tripura, though the previous government does not have such aims. The new ground with sophisticated facilities will produce more talent and earn glory for the state. Dr. Saha added that under the visionary guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government has been working consistently for women empowerment and welfare of the people of all sections of the society.
He also expressed satisfaction for being able to offer the gift of magnificent ground and Gym to the youth of the Sachindranagar after ensuring peace as it has been terror-stricken before his party came to power. The Chief Minister also hoped that the new sports complex will also counter the drug menace in the state.
Speaking in the inauguration programme, Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury highlighting the developmental initiatives of the present government said that Sachindranagar area was the most deprived area and now developmental works have been gaining momentum to improve the socio-economic status of local people along with other parts of the state.
The Sports Minister specified the role of the government in developing the area and the new Football ground of international standard will write a new script for the young soccer players by translating their dreams into realities. He informed that the ground has come up with an estimated cost of Rs. 5 crore. It was the third ground of such class after Chandrapur in Udaipur, UK Academy ground in Agartala. The Sports Minister also said that a sum of Rs. 60 crore will be utilised to develop the sports infrastructures of the state. He also slammed the previous Left Front governments and claimed they never took such initiatives to develop the sports infrastructure of the state.
During the programme, MLA Birendra Debbarma also delivered his speech praising the government efforts to develop sports infrastructure of the state.
The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. P K Chakraborty the Secretary of Sports department and the Vote of thanks was culminated by Subikas Debbarma the Director of Sports department. Later, in the programme, a friendly football match was also played among Majlispur-XI and Tripura Football Association-XI.
