A girl, deceive by a youth threaten self-immolation demanding justice

In a gross human right violation case, a poor mother and her daughter lodged a complaint after being deceived by a youth, who allegedly refused to marry her daughter after engagement.
Sources said that after being deceived by that youth, when the victim mother and her daughter tried to lodge a complaint at Amtali police under West Tripura district about 10 to 12 days, one woman police officer (Sushmita Madam) allegedly physically tortured the poor mother and severely abused her.
Out of that insult, the mother and daughter sat down on the road in protest and after assurance from other police officers, they withdrew their protest.
Sources said that the girl (Gouri Das) has love affairs with one Deep Sur of Badharghat area of Agartala and after being both families had agreed to their marriage, and they had even organized received blessings and engagement ceremonies. However, later Deep refused to marry her. Since then, the girl and her mother have been going from place to place seeking justice.
About 10 days ago, they had also approached the West Agartala Women police station with the same complaint. But according to them, the police have done nothing even after the complaint was lodged. They allege that the accused is roaming freely in the open and even threatening them. The police, however, claim that the accused is absconding.
Finally, the girl stood in front of the West Agartala Women police station on Friday and threatened that if the youth was not punished, she would set herself on fire in public. The victim’s house is in Matripalli area of Badharghat of Agartala.
Both the victim mother and her daughter demand justice against gross humiliation by a women police officer of Amtali police station and arrest of accused youth, Deep Sur for betraying her.
