Absconding NDPS accused arrested in Jatrapur after months on run
After remaining absconding for a long period, an accused in an NDPS case has finally been arrested by the Jatrapur police station of Sepahijala district on Tuesday.
Police said that arrested Humayun Hossain, was a known smuggler in the subdivision and wanted in a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 case.
According to police sources, on February 19, 2026, a raid was conducted in the Borkhola area under Jatrapur police station, during which a vehicle (registration number TR01D 3432) was intercepted. Police recovered a huge quantity of contraband—approximately 138 kilograms of dry Ganja (Cannabis) from the vehicle. The operation was led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Amar Kishore Debbarma along with other police officials.
However, the accused Humayun Hossain managed to flee from the spot during the raid and since then, police had been actively searching for him. Despite evading arreste for a long time, he was eventually caught. Acting on a tip-off, Jatrapur police successfully arrested him on Tuesday from his residence in South Paharpur area.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jatrapur police station, Partha Nath Bhowmik said that the accused will be produced before the court on Tuesday, and further investigation into the case is going on.
