Agartala police arrested an infamous thief, recovered stolen gold, cash
The Agartala city police on Sunday arrested an infamous thief, responsible for many stolen incidents committed in and around the city and has also recovered some stolen gold ornaments and cash amount under his possession.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of East Agartala police station, Sanjit Sen said that one Bijoy Sarkar of Baldakhal area under the same police station went to his in-laws house in Kailashahar on May 28 last with his family for holidays.
When he returned to house a couple days ago, found thieves ransacked his house and had stolen many gold ornaments and a cash amount of Rs. 25,000 from the cupboard. Subsequently, Bijoy Sarkar lodged an FIR at East Agartala police station and police on Sunday with help of CCTV footage managed to arrest an infamous thief, Sujit Das alias Guddu of Briddinagar area of Ranir Bazar, said Sen.
During interrogation, arrested thief Sujit Das confessed he along with another thief had raided the house of Bijoy Sarkar and looted away many gold ornaments and some cash.
Later, police have also recovered a few gold organment and some cash amount from his secret hideout, said OC and added that arrested thief Sujit Das was involved in many stolen incidents committed in and around the city and was also arrested twice by the police. But, after he was granted bail, again started stealing.
Police said that he will be produced before a local court on Monday with police remand appeal for interrogation to recover other stolen items and names of his associates involved with many stolen incidents.
