Amidst unrest in Bangladesh, 8 more Bangladeshi including woman held in Tripura
Amidst turmoil in Bangladesh, the infiltration from Bangladesh into Tripura remained unstoppable and now 8 more Bangladesh nationals including a woman were arrested by Tripura police in different parts of the state for their illegal entry into India.
Despite, maximum deployment of BSF jawans in the entire 856 km stretch of Indo-Bangla border along with Tripura frontier after turmoil in Bangladesh, question raises over the guarding of the border by security forces , who are equipped with latest technology to stop the infiltration, but it continues.
Police sources said that on Saturday midnight with help of local people, the police personnel from NCC police station of Agartala have arrested four Bangladeshi labourers from a quarters complex in Nandannagar area of the city.
Police sources said that all arrested Bangladeshi were entered into Tripura’s territory after the August 5th incident in Bangladesh, in which after mass movements, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country. Arrested Bangladeshi were produced before a local court in Agartala on Sunday for further legal proceedings.
Amidst continuous attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, specially on the Hindus in Bangladesh, large numbers of Bangladesh including minorities are trying to cross the border for safer shelter. But, with the help of touts, the infiltration into Indian territory remained unstoppable.
In another incident under Dharmanagar police station of North Tripura district, the police personnel engaged in patrolling duty at Ananda Bazar area noticed suspected movements of two youths including a woman. Both of them, after seeing police personnel were tried to escape from the spot, but police managed to detain them.
OC of Dharmanagar police station, Himadri Sarkar said that arrested Bangladeshi couple were identified as Jafar Alam and Raziya Begum and both arrested Bangladeshi were produced before a local court of Dharmanagar under Indian Passport Act on Sunday for further legal proceedings. They confessed that they entered India from a Rohingya camp in Bangladesh.
“The interrogations of the detainees were on when they entered India for a safer place after unrest in Bangladesh. We have registered a case under the Foreigners Act and Passport Act and sections under BNS,” said OC.
He said that in view of the unabated trend of infiltration from trouble-torn Bangladesh, the police have also intensified their vigil and patrolling in all border villages and in bus stands and railway stations.
While, police personnel from bordering Madhupur police station arrested two more Bangladeshi women, who entered into India by crossing barbed wire fencing with help of touts and were identified as Farzana Aktar of Gazipur and Arefa Begum of Bagura district of Bangladesh.
Police have also recovered two railway tickets from Agartala to Kolkata under their possessions and they were also produced before a local court on Sunday for further legal proceedings.
On Sunday, a BSF Spokesman said that the border guarding troops during the past few days foiled several infiltration bids in different bordering areas and also arrested some Indian touts and human traffickers during the past two weeks.
Over the last two-and-a-half months, above 200 Bangladeshi nationals and 32 Rohingyas were arrested by the Government Railway Police, BSF, and Tripura Police from the Agartala railway station and various other places in Tripura after they illegally entered India.
Most of the Bangladesh nationals told the security personnel that they intend to go to Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai “in search of jobs”.
The BSF Spokesman said that in view of ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, the BSF has stepped up its vigilance along the 856-km border with Tripura and maintained close coordination with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at various levels.
He said that to maintain close coordination with Bangladesh border guarding forces, during July, in addition to the Inspector General BSF-Region Commander BGB level conference, four Commandant level flag meetings and 150 Company Commander/Border Out Post (BOP) level meetings with BGB were held.
Saying that the BSF has introduced a multi-pronged strategy to prevent trans-border crime and illegal infiltration, the spokesman informed that surveillance has been stepped up and state of the art Hand Held Thermal Imagers and Drones have been inducted.
The BSF in coordination with the BGB is also conducting joint patrolling along the India-Bangladesh borders to prevent infiltration and numerous border crimes, the official said.
