Amit Shah coming on Thursday morning to flag off 7-day long 'Rath Yatra'

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in the state capital on Thursday morning  to participate in the statewide Rath Yatra  ‘Jana Vishwas Yatra’ and  Shah will flag off the Yatra from Dharmanagar at 11 AM.

While, addressing a press conference here at the state election office of BJP on Wednesday afternoon, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha accompanied by BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee and ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that with flagging off the ‘Jana Vishwas Yatra’, by Union Home Minister on Thursday, a new wave for election campaign in Tripura will start.

He said that the second Rath Yatra will also be flagged off by the Union Home Minister from Sabroom at 2 PM and after reaching Agartala in the afternoon, the Union Home Minister will leave the state towards New Delhi.

Sources said that Shah was earlier scheduled to reach the state on Wednesday night through an Air Force flight, but his arrival has been rescheduled and will arrive in the state capital on Thursday morning as the  flight of the Shah has arrived at Guwahati airport on Wednesday night .

The Chief Minister said that during the 7-day long , the party will spread the message of the state government over achievements of the government covering all 60 assembly constituencies of the state.

Dr Saha said that the yatra will begin from South Tripura district and while another will commence from North Tripura district on January 5 and the two Raths will meet in Agartala on the last day of the Yatra on January 12, national president of BJP J P Nadda will be present during the concluding day of Yatras.

Many top leaders of the party along with state leaders including Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union ministers Smriti Irani, Pratima Bhoumik, Locket Chatterjee, opposition leader West Bengal Subhendhu Adhikari, famour film star Mithun Chakraborty  and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will also be present during Rath Yatra.

Speaking in the press meet, BJP’s state president Rajib Bhattacharjee said while the two legs of the yatra will cover an estimated distance of 1,000 km after traversing through 56 of the 60 Assembly constituencies of the state, separate Raths will be taken out from the remaining four constituencies which would later join the main Yatra and converge at Agartala. He said that the party has planned 200 meetings, 100 Padyatras and 50 road shows and other events to boost the morale of the party workers and supporters.

Senior BJP leader and Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said the Yatra will be organized to connect with at least 10 lakh people of the state. BJP general secretary Amit Rakshit and senior leader Tinku Roy would be in charge of the Yatras beginning in North and South Tripura districts, respectively. All party MLAs were given responsibilities for successful conduct of the Yatras with involvement of all leaders and party workers.

Chowdhury also said that many leaders from New Delhi would join the yatras in different Assembly constituencies and they are expecting thousands of people in all these meetings and gatherings, where the leaders would speak about the achievements of the BJP-led governments in the Centre and Tripura.
