The North Tripura district police have arrested another accused in connection with the horrific murder of a school-going child in Sanicherra village of Nadiapur under Dahmanagar subdivision. The accused was produced before a local court sent him for three days of police remand.
It may be recalled that on November 24 (Monday), while returning home from school, Bijaya Sinha and her only son Amrit Sinha were attacked with sharp weapons by a group of miscreants. In the indiscriminate assault at the spot, eight-year-old school student Amrit Sinha died on the spot, while his mother, Bijaya Sinha, collapsed on the ground with severe injuries with heavy bleeding.
Bijaya Sinha was immediately shifted outside the state for better treatment, and it is learned that her condition has improved slightly.
In connection with the incident, Churaibari police registered a case under No. 34/25 and sections 103(1)/118(2)/61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and started their investigation.
Earlier, the police had arrested Madan Gopal Sinha, a resident of Gobindapur. During his interrogation, several important and unknown details were recorded by the investigating police team.
Based on those leads and the statement of the injured lady Bijaya Sinha, the police arrested second co-accused Tapas Sinha (38), son of Lakshindra Sinha, a resident of Ward No. 4 of Nadiyapur, on Monday night.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Churaibari police station, Debabrata Biswas stated that interrogation of the arrested second accused is going on and police hoped that soon they will able to arrest other accused involved in the brutal incident.
