AR medical camp for Bru tribes in North Tripura, destroyed opium poppy in Manipur
Agartala Battalion of Agartala Sector under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) organised medical camp for Bru tribals at Satnala and Baktamohanpara village, North Tripura on Saturday under Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme 2022-2023.
The objective of the medical camp was to carry out Basic medical check-up and refer them district and state hospital for specialized treatment, surgery if required. Besides, medicines to all villagers were also given under the said medical camp.
The Regimental Medical Officer of the Battalion led the medical team and carried out medical check-up of a total of 294 tribals population belonging to Bru and Reang community. The rehabilitation centre chief and all the tribals have expressed their gratitude to the Assam Rifles for their generous gesture of helping the poor villagers with medical check-up and medicines.
In another operation, the Assam Rifles Srikona Battalion of Headquarter 21 Sector under the aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) destroyed large scale cultivation of Poppy plants at Nungthut village Hill Ranges in Nungba Sub Division of Noney District in Manipur on Saturday.
Based on the input about large scale plantation of Poppy plants in Hill Range of Nungthut village, a joint operation was launched by the Srikona Battalion of Assam Rifles along with Manipur police from Nungba Police Station and Noney Forest Department Officials. The party destroyed approximately 80 thousand Opium Poppy plants which were planted in 1.1 acres of forest land worth approximately Rs. 10 lakhs at Nungthut village Hill range in Nungba Sub division, under Noney District of Manipur. State Police is investigating further details.
