Assam Rifles Seizes Yaba Tablets Worth Rs 1 Cr in Cachar district
In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Assam Rifles Field Intelligence Unit (ARFIU) and Cachar Police, seized 10,000 Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 1 crore in Assam’s Cachar district.
The operation was carried out on May 2 near Jirighat following specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of illegal narcotics in the region. Acting swiftly on the information, the joint team intercepted the consignment and recovered the contraband tablets.
During the operation, two individuals, both residents of Cachar district, were apprehended in connection with the seizure. Security personnel also recovered two mobile phones from their possession.
The apprehended persons along with the seized items have been handed over to Cachar Police for further investigation and legal action.
Assam Rifles stated that it continues to play a crucial role in combating drug trafficking across the Northeast. Through coordinated operations with law enforcement agencies, the force remains committed to dismantling narcotics networks and protecting the youth from the dangers of drug abuse.
