Authority to take stern action if improper photo or video of 523 years old Mata Tripura Sundari temple, idol publish
The district authorities in Tripura’s Gomati District on Thursday warned the people to take stringent action if any one publish or display improper photography or video of idol of Shree Shree Mata Tripurasundari and its temple, one of the holy Kali temple founded in 1501 by Tripura’s erstwhile king Maharaja Dhanya Manikya.
District Magistrate and Collector of Gomati District Tarit Kanti Chakma in a notification said that improper photography and videography of idol of Shree Shree Mata Tripurasundari and sanctum sanctorum of the temple and to produce video, reels of song or dance denigrating the image of mother goddess or depicting indecency in the premises of the temple and to publish such image, video or reels in media or social media platforms hurting the religious sentiments and beliefs of the mass are strictly prohibited.
Any dereliction of the order would invite stringent action under the existing criminal law in force, the DM’s order said adding that all concerned should refrain from violating the law.
More than 523-year-old Tripurasundari temple in Udaipur, 65 km south of Agartala, is one of the 51 holy or shaktipith and venerated sites in India and third such temple in eastern India after Kali temple in Kolkata's Kalighat and Kamakhya temple in Guwahati.
On October 15, 1949, Tripura came under the control of the Indian government after a merger agreement was signed between Kanchan Prabha Devi, then regent maharani, and the Indian Governor General.
The merger agreement made it mandatory for the Tripura government to continue the sponsorship of 14 temples including the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple (one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in the country) run by the Hindu princely rulers.
