Aviation Career Guidance programme by AAI, MBB Airport at UK Academy in Agartala
NEH Report:
Agartala, Oct 30: An Aviation Career Guidance programme was organised by Airports Authority of India (AAI) and MBB Airport at Umakanta Academy (Bengali Medium school) in Agartala on Thursday.
The Agartala Airport Director, Krishan Mohan Nehra said, under the visionary leadership, the Civil Aviation Ministry ushered in an era of transformative growth and innovation in the aviation sector. Driven by groundbreaking legislative reforms, extensive infrastructure expansion, and an unwavering commitment to connectivity, safety, and sustainability, the Ministry achieved landmark milestones, positioning India among the world's leading aviation markets.
The AAI played a very pivotal role in the growth of Aviation and took strategic initiatives, reflecting a robust aviation ecosystem poised to support India's ambitions of becoming a developed nation by 2047—Viksit Bharat @2047.
From just 74 airports in 2014, the number of Airports has doubled in the last 11 years, and there are now 159 Airports. The government has set an ambitious target of developing 50 more airports in the next 5 years and connecting 120 new destinations in the next 10 years. With an increase in Airports & Air traffic routes, there is a huge demand for new aircraft, and orders for 1700 aircraft are placed by several airlines.
There is going to be a huge demand for the workforce in aviation in the near future, and therefore, it becomes very important to nurture talent early to match the pace of India’s booming aviation ecosystem. India's civil aviation market is one of the fastest-growing in the world, driven by an expanding middle class and improving household incomes. Still today, only around 4% of India’s population is availing Air Travel, and the potential it holds in the near future is immense, and only the Sky's the limit.
In view of the immense employment potential in the Aviation sector, this program is launched for school students across the country.
The initiative aims to inspire and educate students of Classes 10, 11 and 12 about diverse career pathways within the aviation sector — from piloting and air traffic control to aircraft design, airport management, and beyond.
In this regard, the next session of Aviation Career Guidance Program (ACGP) is being held virtually through Video Conference on 30th October 2025 (Thursday) at 11:30 am, covering 50 schools and Umakanta Academy (Bengali Medium) has been selected as one of the schools. Airports Authority of India, MBB Airport, Agartala is organising the event in coordination with the school.
Krishan Mohan Nehra, Airport Director, MBB Airport addressed the august audience & give a brief about the event. The students would receive brochure & flyer regarding the event.
