Bharat Ratna club secretary murder: Akash, Uma again in PC, another accused brought from WB
After passing of 20 days, the investigation police teams till Monday were unable to arrest main accused persons involved in the sensational murder of club secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha of Usha Bazar, Durga Prasanna Deb alias Viki, who was shot dead on April 30 night, but in the evening they brought brother of prime accused Raju Barman from West Bengal.
The police investigation team on Monday evening brought one FIR named Rakesh Barman through transit remand, brother of prime accused Raju Barman, who was arrested from Raiganj area of West Bengal on Sunday.
Police sources said that soon after arrival at Agartala airport, arrested Rakesh Barman was brought to West Agartala police station after his necessary medical examination, who will be produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) on Tuesday.
While, again on Monday among seven arrested accused, four were produced before the court after rounds of police custody.
Giving details, special public prosecutor Shankar Lodh two accused including shooter cum one of the prime accused Sandip Kar alias Akash and Uma Sarkar, mother of Sushmita Sarkar were produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of West Tripura with police remand appeals and court after hearing both prosecution and defense teams, sent Uma Sarkar for 3 more days police custody and Akash Kar was again sent for six more days in police custody for interrogation.
Two more accused including Sunny Saha, brother-in-law of prime accused Raju Barman and Birchakra Ghosh, younger brother of another prime accused Prabakar Ghosh were sent to jail custody by the court, said Lodh.
He said that another arrested accused Rakesh Barman, brother prime accused Raju Barman was brought to Agartala from West Bengal through a transit remand and will be produced before the court on Tuesday with police remand appeal for interrogation.
So far, the Agartala city police has arrested seven persons including former Bharta Ratna club president, Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury, Sushmita Sarkar and her mother Uma Sarkar, Sandip Kar alias Akash, Sunny Saha ,Birchakra Ghosh and Rakesh Barman. Out of seven arrested persons, Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury, Sushmita Sarkar, Sunny Saha and Birchakra Ghosh are in jail custody and the remaining three accused persons are in police custody.
Special public prosecutor Shankar Lodh said that the police investigation is in progress and based on the interrogation statements and with scientific evidence, police will soon be able to arrest remaining accused involved in the murder.
The investigation team with orders of Magistrate had conducted massive search operations at the houses of many accused including Raju Barman, Biman Das, Prabakar Ghosh, Amit Ghosh, Debabrata Barman, Rakesh Barman and Deb Das on Tuesday (May 7th), but they were unable to get any substantial evidences from their houses.
While, the court has issued permanent non-bailable arrest warrants against all FIR named accused persons, who were locally infamous as negotiation mafias.
The investigation team so far was unable to arrest the remaining half-dozen of accused including some noted negotiation mafias, but claimed that investigation was in the final stage and would soon resolve the murder mystery.
Special Public Prosecutor Shankar Lodh said that after the sensational murder on Tuesday evening (April 30) at Shalbagan area under Agartala Airport police station, police have registered an Suo-Moto FIR under section 302, 120(B) of IPC and 27 Arms Act against assailants.
The shootout at Shalbagan Bazar was committed only with prime reason of growing rivalry among different groups of negotiation mafias and the North side of Agartala city has once again in limelight , in which club secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha shot dead, which mainly committed for a share of money of negotiation for CPW contracts.
Viki’s wife, earlier told the media that negotiation mafias including Raju Barman, Biman Das, Rakesh Barman, Debabrata Barman, Santosh, Amit Ghosh and Prabakar Ghosh were responsible for the killing of her husband and she had also named these persons in the FIR.
