Bharat Ratna club secretary murder: Arms used in shootout recovered, prime accused still untraceable
Finally, after 31 days of the sensational murder of club secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha of Usha Bazar, Durga Prasanna Deb alias Viki, who was shot dead on April 30 night, the investigation police team of Saturday managed to recover the pistol, used in the shootout.
Giving details, special public prosecutor Shankar Lodh said one of seven arrested accused persons, Rakesh Barman, younger brother of prime accused Raju Barman on Saturday after rounds of interrogation located the arms, used in the shootout and as per information of Rakesh, police has recovered the pistol from a crematorium spot inside the ‘Durga Bari’ tea estate under Airport police station.
After recovery of the arms, used for killing of Viki was also produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of West Tripura on Saturday and police also produced Rakesh Barman, who was sent for 15 days jail custody.
All seven arrested accused persons involved in the sensational murder of club secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha including former Bharta Ratna club president, Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury, Sushmita Sarkar and her mother Uma Sarkar, Sandip Kar alias Akash, Sunny Saha ,Birchakra Ghosh and Rakesh Barman and all are now in jail custody.
Lodh also said that one of the accused Uma Sarkar has also recorded her statement before the court under section-164 of CrPc and became approver of the case.
Special public prosecutor Shankar Lodh said that the police investigation is in progress and based on the interrogation statements and with scientific evidence, police will soon be able to arrest remaining accused involved in the murder.
While, the court has issued permanent non-bailable arrest warrants against all FIR named accused persons, who were locally infamous as negotiation mafias.
Special Public Prosecutor Shankar Lodh said that after the sensational murder on Tuesday evening (April 30) at Shalbagan area under Agartala Airport police station, police have registered an Suo-Moto FIR under section 302, 120(B) of IPC and 27 Arms Act against assailants.
The shootout at Shalbagan Bazar was committed only with prime reason of growing rivalry among different groups of negotiation mafias and the North side of Agartala city has once again in limelight , in which club secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha shot dead, which mainly committed for a share of money of negotiation for CPW contracts.
As the FIR, negotiation mafias including Raju Barman, Biman Das, Debabrata Barman, Santosh, Amit Ghosh and Prabakar Ghosh are still beyond the radar of police.
