Biplab Deb highlights performance in RS, express confidence over massive victory of BJP in assembly polls
Former Chief Minister and incumbent Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb urges the people of the state to vote for BJP to expedite the ongoing developmental process of Tripura.
Speaking with media persons at the official residence of Deb at Agartala on Saturday afternoon, Deb said that the ruling BJP will win 40 to 45 seats of the 60-member assembly in the next elections, scheduled to be held in February, 2023.
In the 2018 assembly elections, BJP secured 36 seats and its ally Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) bagged eight assembly constituencies. Deb said that to maintain the present political alliance with IPFT, BJP alone will win 40-45 seats in Tripura because the party has worked a lot for all-round development.
The people of Tripura have realized only BJP can give real development and BJP can only develop the socio-economic condition, said Deb and added he will start his election campaign across Tripura from December 26 and under leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP will get clear mandate to continue the developmental activities in the state.
Deb said that the 2018 assembly elections were important to liberate the state from the clutches of CPI(M)’s anti-people government.
He said that they are only following the party’s discipline and whatever responsibility the party will give, he is ready to discharge as in BJP, everyone follows the party’s decisions.
Expressing his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allowing him to raise the issues of the state in a bigger platform at Rajya Sabha , Deb said many important issues related to the state were discussed in the winter session of the parliament.
In the 13 working days, I was able to raise various Tripura-related issues such as Feni bridge and border haats in the Rajya Sabha,”said Deb and added that there are very positive chance that a regional office of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will start functioning in the state.
There are new border huts which will also be constructed at Ragna, Kamalpur, Khowai and Bamutia and work of two of them has started as well as the common people of the state will get the benefit after functioning of these proposed border haats, said Deb.
He said that initiatives have been taken to start the services of Maitri Bridge in Sabroom with dialogues with neighbouring Bangladesh. Deb said that the issues like 12% share of NEC fund, functioning of airport at Kailasahar, pantry car at Deoghar express etc were raised in the Rajya Sabha.
