Taranidas Para in Kalyanpur in Khowai District witnessed a tense situation on Monday following a clash between the supporters of the ruling BJP and opposition CPI(M) in which at least six persons sustained injuries. All the injured were taken to Khowai Hospital and then was referred to GB Hospital in Agartala due to their critical injuries.

The actual reason of the clash is yet to be ascertained as both the sides were accusing each other and filed case and counter case at the local police station. Local BJP leader Somen Gope alleged that the CPI(M) workers first indulged in the clash when they attacked two BJP workers Swapan Das and Nilkanta Das without any provocation. They filed a case against five persons and one of them Dulal Roy was arrested.

The CPM Candidate Manindra Chandra Das along with other CPM leaders Subhash Nath, Arun Debbarma and few others were present in the spot. Dwijendra Das of CPM registered a complaint against 11 people. The wife of Nirmal Das  and other family members were also attacked. All these incidents created a lot of chaos in Taranidas para and tension prevailing in that area.
