Border Guards nabbed 744 for illegal infiltration in Tripura in 2023
The Border Security Force (BSF) has arrested 744 people in Tripura last year for crossing the India-Bangladesh border illegally including 337 Bangladeshi citizens, 295 Indians, and 112 Rohingyas.
A BSF Public Relations Officer (PRO) said, BSF since its inception in the year 1965 has always dedicated its services to the nation maintaining exemplary standards of bravery and professionalism. It continues handling multifarious challenges involving national security living up to the standard of the Force’s motto ‘Jeevan Paryant Kartavya’.
In Tripura, over the years, BSF Tripura Frontier has performed multifarious responsibilities in fighting the insurgency, maintaining the border's sanctity and preventing all kinds of trans-border crimes while working under adverse climatic conditions in remote and inhospitable terrain and highly malaria-infested zones in most parts of its operational areas. BSF Tripura frontier has always maintained good synergy with state authorities and other Security and Intelligence agencies while managing its assigned task of safeguarding the borders and maintaining harmony amongst the border population.
BSF Tripura Frontier has achieved several milestones during the preceding year of 2023.
During the year 2023, the BSF troops of Tripura Frontier have maintained extremely high levels of surveillance and alertness. Resultantly, BSF has successfully rescued 1,980 Cattle heads and seized contraband items like Phensedyl 2,02,535Bottles, Ganja 16,750.18 Kgs, Yaba tablets 98,003Nos,Gold3.998 kg, Silver 289.78gms, Brown Sugar 1185.465Gms, Arms/ Ammunition, BD Currency 1,07,17,980/-Taka and miscellaneous items worth ₹ 41,82,23,177/- and also apprehended112 Rohingya Illegal Migrants (RIMs), 337 Bangladeshi nationals and 295 Indian in different operations. In close coordination with state and central agencies 20, 12,400(approx.) Ganja saplings, being grown illegally on 1,007acres in the state of Tripura, were destroyed by uprooting or burning in joint operations.
BSF being a border guarding force also looks after the populace residing in bordering areas and for their well-being, conducts various Civic Action Programs, which include Free Medical Camps, Cataract operation,skill development training, Sports tournaments, Cultural activities.
In order to promote national unity and integrity, BSF held a number of events throughout the year under the slogan of "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" including Band display, weapon display and Photo exhibition at various locations in Tripura. Besides, on the occasion of International Yoga Day, various yoga sessions were conducted at different locations in the state. In addition, numerous awareness drives such as 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, 'Har Ghar Tiranga', “Meri Mati Mera Desh’, ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’, was organized at Frontier Agartala and all under command Sectors and Units upto BOPs.To protect the environment BSF launched massive drive for plantation in the state. Rozgar Mela were organized at Frontier Agartala to hand over the Offer of appointment to new recruits, which was graced by Kumari Pratima Bhowmik, Union Minister of state in the ministry of social justice and empowerment
The IG-BSF - Region Commanders BGB level Border Coordination Conference was held at Chattogram, Bangladesh in the month of September 2023.During the conference, bilateral issues were discussed for better coordination between both the Border Guarding Forces for well being of population residing in the border area, thereby paved the way for maintaining ties between two friendly nation.
Patel Piyush Purusottam Das, IPS IG Frontier HQ Tripura celebrated the New Year with Jawan. During Sainiksammelan, he applauded the tireless efforts and dedication of BSF troops in safeguarding borders and motivated troops to keep themselves physically and mentally fit and perform the duty with dedication and devotion.
