BSF seized Brown Sugar worth of Rs. 1.10 crore from Kumarghat railway station
In continuation of anti-drug operation across Tripura, the BSF in their series of special operations to defeat the ill designs of trans-border smugglers, particularly narcotics, drugs and succeeded in neutralizing them at regular intervals on the Indo-Bangladesh international border.
BSF sources said that on the specific input, a special operation was launched by team of BSF on Tuesday at Kumarghat Railway station, wherein a thorough search of coach number D-4 of train No. 15664 going from Silchar to Agartala was carried out. During the search, a seizure of appx 221.96 gms of suspected Brown Sugar was made from a white colour plastic bag left abandoned by the suspect who managed to slip away taking advantage of the crowd of passengers. The estimated value of seized brown sugar is about Rs.1,10,98,000 crore in the international market. BSF is persistently putting effort to make society drug-free by enforcing the rule of law and such seizure of drugs is a decisive step in that direction.
Vigilant BSF troops deployed on the extreme frontiers of the country in Tripura are effectively guarding the International Border and seizing various contraband items on regular basis from the bordering areas.
It may be recalled here that due to BSF’s concerted efforts to eradicate the drug menace to thwarting the attempts being made by trans-border criminals, smugglers by taking all possible proactive measures and is frequently confiscating huge quantities of contraband giving big jolts to trans-border smugglers, particularly narcotics,drug traffickers during 'Anti-Smuggling Drives' in the Tripura.
