Tripura cabinet after a long meeting has approved the publication of long pending final results of Joint Recruitment Board, Tripura (JRBT) group-D results on September 7th or 8th next.
Giving details of the cabinet decisions, Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat on Saturday afternoon said that the Group-C results of JRBT had already declared and with approval from state cabinet, now the JRBT will publish the final results of Group-D selection list.
The cabinet in its significant decision has decided to fulfill the long pending demands of Special Police Officers (SPOs) of the state police and hiked their honorarium.
Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that cabinet has decided to hike the honorarium of altogether 3,776 SPOs posted in different police stations from the existing pay structure of Rs. 7079 per month and will get Rs. 12,000 per month with effect from September next.
Now, the honorarium of altogether 266 SPO (Drivers) , who are getting at Rs. 9540 per month , will also get Rs. 12,000 like other SPOs.
It may be recalled here that during peak days of insurgency in Tripura, the then Left Front government had recruited SPOs to strengthen policing and tackling insurgency.
The Left Front governments had initiated the process of recruiting SPOs to effectively fight with insurgents. There was a reason behind the recruitment of SPOs during the Left Front as to help the security forces and selected brave local youths, who did a commendable job to curb the militancy from Tripura. They also played a crucial role in the development of tribal areas. After the over-four-decades-long militancy was tamed in Tripura, the SPOs were deployed in regular police work and law and order enforcement.
In the year 2020, the present BJP-IPFT government has also recruited 1100 SPOs to strengthen policing and for law and order duties.
Chowdhury said that the state cabinet has also decided to fill up vacant posts of 916 police constables including male and female and soon the recruitment process would be initiated. He said that the recruitment process of 1000 police constables has already been completed and soon the recruitment process will be completed.
Apart from these, 51 posts of different categories in the Tourism department including engineers, computer assistants, group-C and D etc.
Eight posts for Senior Informatics Officer (CO) and one lower level clerk (LDC) are also to be filled up in the Information and Technology department, said Chowdhury.
The state cabinet also decided to hike the honorarium of pump operators working in all 20 urban bodies including Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and now pump operators will get Rs. 7500 per month and non- pump operators engaged in iron removal plants will get honorarium of Rs. 7000 per month.
