CBSE opens sub-regional office at Agartala

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened its first sub-
regional office at Agartala, aiming to strengthen and decentralise the state's academic
administration.
The state government has long been trying to have an administrative setup here as BUP-led
government in Tripura introduced CBSE curriculum and affiliated over 200 schools, which were
earlier under Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE).
"The newly opened office in Agartala on October 5th last, will streamline CBSE-related services for schools, students, and teachers of the state.
Until now, CBSE-affiliated schools in Tripura had to coordinate with the Guwahati regional
office, which often led to logistical challenges and delays,” said Director Secondary Education N
C Sharma.
The newly opened sub-regional office here will provide a range of services, including admission
assistance, subject and student record corrections, exam Centre coordination, mark sheet
corrections, grievance redressal, and teacher training facilitation, which was done from
Guwahati earlier.
It will also work closely with state education bodies and regional educational institutions to
ensure the smooth conduct of examinations and to enhance student development initiatives.
Sharma stated that the move is expected to greatly benefit students, teachers, parents, and
school administrators, improving communication, efficiency, and support for the CBSE
ecosystem in Tripura.
The upcoming modern building will feature dedicated administrative sections, training facilities,
a data management center, and a grievance redressal unit, transforming it into a comprehensive
academic and advisory hub for schools, teachers, and students.
According to officials, the upcoming Agartala building will serve as an administrative office and
"Center for Edueational Guidance and Development”, where teachers, administrators, and
students can collaborate on educational innovation and policy implementation.
