City police arrested two notorious thieves with stolen items
Agartala city police on Thursday arrested two notorious thieves and recovered some stolen items including a laptop and some cash under their possessions.
Giving details, SDPO (Sadar) Debaprasad Roy said that on July 11 night, some suspected thieves had raided at a shop, SD Enterprise at Melamath area under West Agartala police station in the midnight and looted some valuable items including a laptop, some cash amount and few other accessories.
After receiving the complaint, West Agartala police station led by OC Paritosh Das formed a team and started investigation, said SDPO and added during verification of CCTV footage, a thief, identified as Amit Dey of Ambassa area of Dhalai district.
Police managed to arrest him from the city on Thursday and collected all stolen items from his Ambassa home, said Roy.
He said that during preliminary interrogation, the arrested thief revealed the name of his associate and based on his information, the investigation has also arrested another thief Sajal Debnath, who was involved in many stolen incidents.
SDPO added that both arrested thieves were produced before a local court with police remand appeals for further interrogation to get details of their stolen network. He hoped that soon more thieves involved in many stolen incidents committed in and around the city will be arrested.
