In a successful attempt, the Agartala city police have burst a gang of motorcycle lifters and arrested a kingpin and seized two stolen motorcycles.
Giving details of the police operation during a media interaction here at East Agartala police station on Friday afternoon, SDPO (Sadar) Ajoy Kumar Das said that on Thursday midnight OC of East Agartala police station Rana Chatterjee over suspicious ground detained a suspected bike rider and after interrogation, suspected bike lifter spill the bean.
Based on the interrogation statement, police team has also recovered a stolen scooty under his possession, said SDPO Das and added that police have arrested a bike lifter identified as Jalauddin from Churaibari area under North Tripura district.
He said that a gang of property thefts and snatchers from North Tripura are staying in the capital city for months in rented houses and they were involved with many stolen incidents.
Das added that this active bike lifter gang never stayed in a rented house for two months and they were frequently changing their locations. He also said that police have identified all the gang members and soon they will be arrested. While arrested bike lifter Jalauddin has been produced before a local court with police remand appeals for further interrogation.
During the past one month, the capital city police have arrested a number of thieves and motor bike lifters involved in a series of stolen incidents and after the arrest of these criminals, the growing number of stolen incidents across Agartala has also started decreasing
