Clash among supporters of BJP and CPI (M) in Udaipur, three injured
After the Lok Sabha election, the peaceful Udaipur town of Gomati district turned into a battlefield after a clash erupted among the supporters of ruling BJP and opposition CPI(M) on Monday evening.
After the clash, three CPI(M) leaders, who suffered critical injuries during unprovoked attacks by ruling party supporters were admitted to district hospital. During the clash, a CPI(M) office located at Jamtala area of the town has also been ransacked and miscreants have also destroyed one office Left employees.
Sources said that on Monday, the local CPI(M) leaders and workers submitted a mass deputation before the chairman of Udaipur Municipal Council demanding pure drinking water supply and setting of water treatment plants for ward numbers of 2,3 and 4.
After their deputation, when CPI(M) workers returned back to their Jamtal office, a group of 10 to 12 miscreants owing allegiance with ruling BJP started indiscriminate attacks on CPI(M) leaders. Within minutes, the Jamtala area turned into a pitched battle field and as a result, three CPI(M) leaders identified as Dilip Datta, Udaipur divisional secretary, Rabindra Karmakar and Kurban Khadim suffered grievous injuries.
Later, a large number of police forces rushed to the spot and they tried to defuse the escalating tension and skirmish among rival party supporters. Police have also shifted three injured leaders to Gomati district hospital.
Opposition CPI (M) has also filed an FIR at RK Pur police station against 8 to 10 miscreants , responsible for the attack on their party workers.
While, officer-in-charge (OC) of RK Pur police station, Babul Das said that the situation is now under control and a large number of security forces deployed at Jamtala and its adjoining areas. He said that all stranded CPI(M) supporters were escorted by police to reach their respective homes Safely.
