CM allocates portfolios to 8 ministers, keeps Home, health etc departments with himself
After two days of grand oath taking ceremony, the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday allocated portfolios among eight cabinet ministers keeping 30 departments including home, health, PWD, ICA, education, forest, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Parliamentary Affairs with him.
A notification issued by the Chief Secretary J K Sinha on March 10 said that the Governor of Tripura has on the advice of the Chief Minister been pleased to allocate the business of the government by assigning to the charge of the departments to nine ministers including the Chief Minister.
Dr Saha along with eight other cabinet ministers including a woman took oath days after the BJP-IPFT alliance retained power in Tripura for the second straight term by winning 33 seats in the 60-member state assembly, for which elections were held on February 16.
According to a notification, issued by Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha Dr Saha has kept the Home, Health and Family Welfare and PWD department and all other departments which are not allocated to any minister.
While, Minister Ratan Lal Nath has been given the charge of Power, Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare and Election department, who was Education and Law minister in the first BJP government.
Minister Pranajit Singha Roy has goven the important departments of Finance portfolio along with Planning and Coordination and Information Technology.
Minister Sushanta Chowdhury is the new minister in-charge of Food and Civil Supplies, Transport and Tourism while only woman minister Santana Chakma has been given charge of Industries and Commerce, jail (Home) and Welfare of OBCs.
Newly inducted Minister Tinku Roy, who will look after charges of the departments like Youth Affairs and Sports department, social welfare and social education and labour.
Minister Bikash Debbarma has got Tribal Welfare, Handloom, Handicrafts and Sericulture and Statistics while Sudhangshu Das is the new Minister for SC Welfare, Animal Resource and Fisheries.
IPFT's lone MLA Sukla Charan Noatia has been given Cooperation, Tribal Welfare (TRP & PTG) and Minority Welfare department.
"All other departments which are not allocated to any minister will be looked by the Chief Minister", the notification said. Dr Saha and his eight ministers were sworn in on March 8 during a grand oath taking ceremony in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP’s national president J P Nadda.
