CM emphasizes non-violence as a guiding light for progress
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday said that the philosophy of non-violence of Mahatma Gandhi continues to empower the nation, providing a guiding light towards progress.
CM Dr Saha said this while unveiling the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of Nation at Renters Society, Near Kalibari, Jogendra Nagar along with Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul.
“In a remarkable tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the renowned poet Rabindranath Tagore bestowed upon him the title of "Mahatma," meaning 'Greater Soul,' during his visit to India. Today, a statue commemorating this great leader stands as a symbol of history and an inspiration for social development. The government is actively working to further enhance the beauty of the area”, said Dr Saha.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the people for their proactive initiative in honoring Mahatma Gandhi.
Dr Saha said that known affectionately as 'Bapu,' his birthday on October 2nd is celebrated nationwide as a day of reverence for this iconic figure, who epitomized non-violence.
“Amid recent episodes of violence and challenges related to community and religion, Mahatma Gandhi's principles remain profoundly relevant. His philosophy of non-violence continues to empower the nation, providing a guiding light towards progress. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is dedicatedly working following the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi, embracing the path of non-violence”, said CM.
He further said that Mahatma Gandhi, the founder of the Satyagraha Andolan and the visionary behind the Khadi Andolan, tirelessly worked for the upliftment of the poor, women's empowerment, and various social issues.
“Prime Minister Modi recognizes the significance of Mahatma Gandhi's teachings and is aligned with his principles. The implementation of the National Education Policy is a testament to the influence of Mahatma Gandhi, and Prime Minister Modi is dedicated to its success. It is widely acknowledged that development can only be achieved through non-violence, as demonstrated by Mahatma Gandhi. His exemplary life continues to guide the nation, inspiring progress in various spheres, " said Dr Saha.
