CM laid foundation stone for new PHQ complex
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday morning laid the foundation stone and ‘Bhumi Puja’ for the new police headquarters complex at New Capital city complex in Agartala.
During the foundation stone laying ceremony, Chief Minister along with DGP Amitabh Ranjan, ADGP Sourab Tripathi and other top police officials including SP(West) Sankar Debnath were also present in the ceremony.
Later, speaking with media persons Dr Saha said that shifting of police headquarters into a new integrated building is very necessary as the existing PHQ cannot be expanded due to shortage of land as it is situated in the middle of the city.
The proposed new complex will be built with a bigger space and government initially allotted one care land and as per government process more land will also be allotted for the new construction, said Dr Saha.
He also appreciated the police administration for maintaining a good law and order situation. DGP Amitabh Ranjan said that the proposed modern police headquarters will be constructed by NBCC and Tripura Housing and Construction Board.
