CM lays foundation stone for multi-storied car parking, commercial complex at Old Motorstand
Agartala city is transforming into a beautiful and one of the best cities in the Northeast after many initiatives have been taken to beautify Agartala city through different developmental works, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.
Speaking at the ‘Bhumi Pujan’ or the foundation laying ceremony for multi-storied car parking and commercial complex at Old Motorstand area of Agartala on Friday, said Chief Minister and added that the newly adorned Agartala city is now attracting tourists from outside the state. He said, it is a matter of pride for the citizens of Tripura that such huge project has been taken up for the first time in the state. With the implementation of the project, traffic congestion in the city will be resolved as well as income sources will be generated.
It will not only ensure disciplined way of vehicle parking but also expand the horizon of industry and commerce, said Dr Saha and hoped for everyone’s cooperation in the successful implementation of the project. He said, each and every citizen must come forward in successful implementation of the project for the best interest of the state although there may be few hindrances for the time being. Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumdar said, this project is a special initiative in terms of making Agartala free of traffic congestion. The AMC has given ultimate priority to keep the city clean and traffic congestion free.
CEO of Agartala Smart City Limited Dr. Sailesh Kumar Yadav said, there will be arrangements to park 280 vehicles in the multi-storied car parking area. The parking lot will be built 50 metres high. The multi-storied car parking and commercial complex will be built on private public partnership. The construction will be completed within 3 years and the government has given the plot to private organisation on lease for 29 years. About Rs.200 crore will be spent on construction.
Secretary of Urban development department Abhishek Singh also spoke on the occasion. Other dignitaries including Deputy Mayor of AMC Monica Das Dutta, Councillor Ratna Dutta, Additional Commissioner of AMC Md. Sajjad P and representative of project implementing organisation Prem Kumar Agarwal were also present.
The condition of ailing veteran leader and cabinet minister NC Debbarma deteriorated after he suffered a cerebral stroke on December 30 and immediately shifted to a operation theatre at G B Hospital for emergency operation. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and Union Minister of state Ms. Pratima Bhowmik visited hospital to enquire his health condition.
