CM urges newly elected Panchayat representatives to prioritize public welfare
Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Friday emphasized that the main aim of the present government is to work for the people and urged the newly elected representatives of the three-tier Panchayat to focus on solving the people’s problems.
Dr Saha said this while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the new members of the South Tripura Zilla Parishad at the Sachin Dev Barman Auditorium in Belonia on Friday.
“Our India is a democratic country. From Parliament to Panchayat, democracy is visible. Prime Minister Modi has always emphasized providing all beneficial schemes to the last person in society. The three-tier Panchayat plays a key role in delivering state and central government schemes to the last person in the society. Our state government is also working in the transparent manner shown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who runs the country with transparency,” Dr Saha said.
Dr Saha further stated that it is the responsibility and duty of the Panchayat to work transparently.
“We have seen how oppositions ruled the state for the last 35 years in the name of transparency. Now, they have no real issues, so they are trying to create new ones. However, the people do not want to accept the opposition. They failed to work for the people. Our main objective is to serve the people. The newly elected Panchayat members must treat people properly and in a good manner. People will come to you with many problems, and you must understand and address their concerns,” Dr Saha said.
He also highlighted how the Central Government assisted Tripura during the recent flood situation by providing resources such as NDRF teams, boats, and helicopters.
Dr Saha added, “I trust people who work sincerely. The elected representatives of the Panchayat Samiti, Zila Parishad, and Gram Panchayats must fulfill their responsibilities by solving people’s problems.”
He further informed that he has directed all the Secretaries to visit various areas of the state to oversee development works, ensuring that the District Magistrates, SDMs, and BDOs are motivated.
“Sitting in the Secretariat, it is not possible to accomplish everything. The secretaries have already started visiting the field,” he added.
Cooperatives Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, MLA Swapna Majumder, MLA Pramod Reang, MLA Mailafru Mog, Secretary of Rural Development Department Sandeep Rathore, District Magistrate Smita Mol, Panchayat Department Director Prasoon Dey and other public representatives and administration officials were present in the event.
