CM visits flood victim house, extends financial aids, directs for social allowance, home repairs
Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Sunday visited the house of the late Chiranjit Dey, who made the ultimate sacrifice while saving flood-affected people.
During the visit, Dr Saha provided financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the family and directed the District Magistrate to ensure both the mother and father of the deceased are included in the social allowance scheme. He also instructed for the repair of their house.
Dr Saha expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating, “The brave young man, Chiranjit Dey, sacrificed his life to save people in distress during the recent flood situation. His actions were truly courageous and inspiring. This tragic incident has deeply affected us all, and the state government will stand by his family to provide all necessary assistance. Chiranjit's bravery will forever be remembered.”
The Chief Minister highlighted that Chiranjit Dey was a professional driver and the sole earner of his family, which includes his elderly, ailing parents. His three sisters are married, leaving his parents in a vulnerable situation following his tragic death.
"Although no financial assistance can ever compensate for such an irreparable loss, the state government has provided Rs 4 lakh to the family. Additionally, I have instructed the District Magistrate to include his parents in social allowance programs and ensure the repair of their home. Chiranjit's legacy will live on in our hearts as a source of inspiration for service-minded youth," Dr Saha added.
