CM writes Union Railway Minister for additional daily passenger train on Agartala-Dharmanagar route
In a bid to enhance the convenience of travel for the residents of Tripura, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha took a proactive step on Thursday by writing a letter to the Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, requesting to provide an additional daily passenger train from Agartala-Dharmanagar-Agartala.
In the letter, to the Union Railway Minister, the Chief Minister wrote, “At the very outset, I express my heartfelt gratitude for the remarkable support rendered by the Ministry of Railways towards the development of the railway transportation in Tripura”.
The CM further in his letter has written that in the last few years, the railway connectivity has improved significantly in Tripura with the extension of the broad-gauge railway lines and introduction of several Express and Local train services.
“However, the number of daily commuters has also increased significantly over the years in our State. There is already a tremendous demand to introduce an additional daily passenger train between 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM from the capital city of Agartala to the northernmost city of Dharmanagar, the two major cities of the State. The same train may return to Agartala next morning. This will significantly benefit a large section of commuters on a daily basis. Therefore, I request you to kindly consider the aforementioned matter and help us realize the true essence of the coveted HIRA model in our State”, the letter of CM reads.
This move by the Chief Minister not only demonstrates his commitment to improving the lives of the citizens but also emphasized his vision for a well-connected and accessible Tripura. By advocating for increased rail services, he aims to facilitate smooth and hassle-free travel for both commuters and tourists alike.
